About Richard Glasgow

Richard Glasgow is a second generation painting contractor who specializes in painting fine homes of all shapes and sizes.  In 1978, he began contracting in one of the most prestigious areas of North Dallas.

One of the higher profile homes he painted was used for all of the interior shots of 'South Fork', the illustrious TV home of the Ewing Family in the 1980’s top-rated show, "Dallas."  This home was featured on the cover of the July/August 1981 issue of Texas Homes

“One of the neat things about working in fine homes is the original art you are able to work around and with to actually enhance the work of masters.  One Dallas home was just loaded with original Louis C. Tiffany stained and leaded glass, all of which was newly framed and backlit.  It was a real privilege and honor to be able to paint the doors and framework in which these priceless works were set,” said Glasgow.

In the same home, a Tiffany ceiling dome (pictured in the portfolio section), was assembled in a kitchen that had to be completely restructured just to accommodate this very large (15’x 30’) leaded glass and steel structure.  It was originally commissioned for J.P. Morgan’s summer home in 1905.

“The most famous home I’ve painted was the last house that Frank Lloyd Wright designed.  Located in Phoenix, AZ, it was originally known as the Norman Lykes Home, although the Lykes family no longer owns it or lives there.  It was completely refurbished in 1994 and 1995 by its current owner, when I became involved in the project,” says Glasgow (see photos in portfolio section).  “The experience of working in a Frank Lloyd Wright edifice was truly unique.  It was like working in the middle of a world famous, three dimensional museum piece.  People from all over the world constantly flock to all of his works (of which there are many in Phoenix, home of Taliesin West, his School of Architecture and western home) and the Lykes home was always a popular stop for the F.L.W. aficionados.  This home has been featured in many books and magazines (Metropolitan Home, This Old House and Southwest Style to name a few).  It was also featured in the made for TV movie, “Stranger In My House.”

“Though based in Dallas, TX, I’ve had the opportunity to work in some of the finest homes throughout the South and Southwestern parts of the United States, from Florida to California.  When you work in people’s homes, sometimes for lengthy periods of time, you become like extended family.  I’ve developed a great clientele over the past 26 years and I have the utmost respect for their privacy.  My customer list is private and I don't sell or disclose their names, addresses, phone numbers or any other personal information” according to Glasgow.
